About This Call
ArtCenter houses 38 partially-subsidized workspaces for visual artists working in most mediums. Studios range from 175 to 900 square feet, with monthly rents averaging $280-$600 based on $9.00 per square foot annually, plus common area fees, energy surcharges, and 7% sales tax. Facilities include darkroom, print lab, common workspace, Wi-Fi access, and 24-hour building access. Residencies last 6 months to 2 years, with opportunities to participate in monthly Studio Crawls, join the ArtCenter Alumni Network, exhibit in window exhibition spaces, and teach within ArtCenter's Art Studies programs for artists with previous teaching experience.
Eligibility is open to working, professional artists with deep commitment to their practice, based in the US or abroad, and not currently enrolled in an academic program. Alumni artists may apply, though priority is given to artists who have never had a studio residency at ArtCenter previously. Selection is based on merit of past work, readiness to engage with the program, and potential to develop an innovative creative practice and impact the community.
Applications are reviewed by ArtCenter staff for completion and eligibility, then evaluated by a 5-member Artist Review Committee of artists and art professionals. Finalists are invited for 30-minute interviews (in-person, phone, or videoconference) to determine final selections. Applicants must submit 8-10 images of recent work, artist statement, CV or resume, three references, and pay a $40 processing fee. Video or audio documentation may be submitted by contacting the office at 305-674-8278 or [email protected]. Three application deadlines per year: September 30, January 31, and May 31.
