Art: Urban, Suburban, Rural Environments

This juried exhibition invites visual artists 14 years or older residing in Michigan to submit artwork representing urban, suburban, and rural environments. Entries may include cityscapes, landscapes, or other locations where people dwell, as well as abstract representations that create a sense of place. Artists are asked to submit 1 to 3 sentences about how their artwork fits this theme.

Each artist may submit up to two original works completed in the last two years that have not been previously exhibited at LowellArts. All work must be properly framed and ready for display. Two-dimensional work must have secure hanging wire or D-Rings, with no exposed glass edges or saw tooth hangers. Three-dimensional entries must have adequate hanging hardware and systems. All artwork must fit through a standard door and be easily handled by two people. Artists requiring special installation instructions should provide detailed descriptions.

The entry fee is $30 ($20 for LowellArts Members). Deadline for entry is May 1, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Artists will be notified of acceptance on May 10, 2018. Accepted artwork should be hand-delivered or shipped to LowellArts Gallery at 223 W Main St, Lowell, MI 49331. Drop-off dates are May 29 & 30 from 10am-6pm. The exhibition runs June 2 – July 14, with an artist reception on June 7, 6-8pm. Pickup is July 17 & 18 from 10am-6pm. LowellArts will take a 30% commission on all artwork sold during the exhibition. Artwork may be listed as NFS (not for sale). All packing and shipping costs are the responsibility of the artist.
