About This Call

The 42nd annual Art Under the Elms is a three-day arts festival held on the scenic Lewis-Clark State College campus in Lewiston, Idaho. This free community event features over 75 artisan vendors, youth and emerging artist exhibits, live performances, and food vendors. Visitors can enjoy hands-on workshops led by artists, creative activities in the Children's Art Tent, and interactive youth art experiences. Coinciding with LC State's Family Weekend, Art Under the Elms attracts more than 8,000 visitors each year and supports the Center for Arts & History's mission to connect campus and community through the arts, culture, and humanities.

The festival runs April 17-19, 2026, with hours Friday 12:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., and Sunday 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Applications are accepted for three categories: Youth Artist (under 18), Emerging Artist (18+ with fewer than two years professional experience), and Artisan Vendor (established artists 18+). All work must be original and created within the last three years. Artists may submit up to 3 applications in different media categories including ceramics, fiber art, jewelry, painting, sculpture, woodworking, and many others.

All artists must submit five digital images representing current work intended for exhibit, plus a booth setup image. Applications require a detailed description of materials and techniques used. Vendor booths must remain open during all advertised hours with the artist or designated representative present. All vendors must carry liability insurance with at least $1 million coverage naming Lewis-Clark State College as additional insured. The jury consists of professional arts administrators, curators, and non-participating professional artists who evaluate applications based on artwork quality, craftsmanship, creativity, and presentation.
