Art Through the Lens 2018

Art Through the Lens 2018 is an international juried photography exhibition open to all without restrictions on content. The exhibition provides photographers with an outlet for their art, encouragement for growth in their vision and presentation, and cash rewards for works of exceptional merit. From submissions received, 50-70 images are selected for exhibition by a highly qualified juror. Selected works will be featured in a full color catalog produced by the Yeiser Art Center and offered for sale during the exhibition. $2,000 in cash awards will be distributed: Best of Show $1,000, First Place $500, Second Place $250, and Third Place $150. Selected artists will have the opportunity to purchase exhibition catalogs at a discounted rate, and an awards presentation will be held during the opening reception.

Artists may submit up to 20 entries, including video and moving images. All photo-based imagery created through photographic processes is eligible, including non-lens made images. All work must be original, completed in the last three years, and not previously exhibited in an Art Through the Lens exhibition. Size restrictions apply: no single work may exceed 6 feet in width and 8 feet in height without advanced approval from YAC. The entry fee is $15 per photographic artwork submitted. Entries must be submitted online through CaFE. Accepted entries must arrive at the Yeiser Art Center no later than September 29, 2018 at 5pm, shipped prepaid via FedEx, UPS, or USPS. Work will be insured for the duration of the exhibition for the value of the work or 60% of the retail price. The Yeiser Art Center will retain a 40% gallery commission on all sales.

The exhibition will be on display from October 5 – November 17, 2018 at the Yeiser Art Center, 200 Broadway, Paducah, Kentucky. An opening reception and awards ceremony will be held October 5, 5-7pm. Artists living within a 100-mile radius of Paducah will automatically be entered into a Regional Showcase component, which will be held at US Bank Lobby, 333 Broadway Street, Paducah, Kentucky during the same exhibition dates. Notification of acceptance for the International Show is August 31, 2018; notification for the Regional Showcase is September 7, 2018.
