About This Call
The Roger Tory Peterson Institute invites artists to participate in Art that Matters to the Planet, an exhibition exploring the intersection of art and nature. This is not a typical exhibition—selected artists will collaborate with curators on how best to present their work. Artists may exhibit finished works, preparatory drawings, field sketches, and accompanying narratives, photographs, or videos as needed to help audiences understand their artistic process and how they use art to illuminate the beauty of nature, challenge environmental issues, and inspire preservation of the earth's biodiversity.
All categories of fine and decorative art are welcome. Emerging and established artists are eligible to apply. Submissions should provide a holistic picture of artistic practice or a particular series or project, and may include images of finished artwork, in-process work, sketches, journal entries, published writing, videos, or other relevant materials. A minimum of 5 and maximum of 20 files may be submitted. The entry fee is $35. The exhibition runs from July 27, 2022 to October 30, 2022.
Submit materials online via CaFÉ by May 3, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Required materials include an artist statement, images/videos/documents, artwork descriptions (title, date, processes, materials, dimensions), and the application fee. For inquiries, contact Maria Ferguson, Collections Curator, at [email protected] or 716-665-2473, ext. 228.
