About This Call
Art Speaks Juried Exhibition is presented by the Bay School Community Arts Center. The exhibition runs April 25 - May 25, 2026, with an opening reception on Saturday, April 25, 5:00-7:00 p.m. Artwork delivery is Monday - Saturday, April 6-18, 10am–4pm at 279 Main Street, Mathews, VA. Pick up artwork Wednesday - Saturday, May 27-30, 10am–4pm.
Eligibility: Any artist living in Virginia or with a working studio in Virginia, at least 18 years old. Original works only, completed since 1/1/2023, not shown or markedly similar to work shown in a previous Art Speaks Juried Exhibition. AI-produced artwork is not permitted. Eligible media include 2D work (painting and drawing all media, fiber art, mixed media and printmaking, fine art photography, digital art) and 3D work (ceramic, glass, wood or metal functional ware, sculpture in any media, fiber art).
Entry fees: $25 for up to 3 entries received by midnight 2/1/2026; $35 for up to 3 entries received after 2/1/2026 until final deadline 3/1/2026; $20 for full-time students, up to 3 entries. Cash or check payments accepted with promo code COC, payable in person or by mail to PO Box 1524, Mathews, VA 23109. Submission deadline: Friday, March 1, by midnight. Application period opens December 1. Submit digital pictures in high quality jpg format, 72dpi, no less than 2400 pixels on the longest side. Two-dimensional artwork must have wire hanging. Entries should be no larger than 44" in any direction without prior approval and weigh no more than 30 lbs (up to 50 lbs if free standing). All works will be juried in digital format.
Awards: First, Second and Third Place Prizes in 2D Art; First, Second and Third Place Prizes in 3D Art; Students' Choice awards in 2D and 3D; Best 2D work and Best 3D work; Award selected by RAL Art Center Executive Director. Notification of acceptance will be emailed no later than March 10. Entries may be for sale or display only. All work must be priced for sale including 40% commission to The Bay School or marked "NFS" (Not for Sale). Commission from sales is owed from publication of the catalog (April 15, 2026) through the end of the exhibition (May 25, 2026). For more information, call 804-725-1278.
