About This Call
Art & Soul | Soul Struck is a biennial, national juried exhibition of original artwork open to artists working in a wide variety of media. The exhibition is open to national artists at least 18 years of age. Eligible work is any original piece that correlates with the exhibit theme and has been created between 2013-2015. The exhibition explores humanity's deliberation over the definition and existence of the soul—whether it is the essence of life, our true self, a moral compass, or emotional fervor. Juror-selected artists utilize their chosen media to address these contradictory perspectives.
Eligibility requirements: 2-D work must be framed, ready to hang, and meet ASLD framing specifications (wired pieces only, no sawtooth hangers, no plastic frames, black or neutral tones only). Any 3-D work must include instructions for display. All artwork entered must be for sale, with artists receiving 60% of the sale price. Sale proceeds will be paid to artists within 30 days of the exhibition's end. Each piece submitted requires a $20 image fee. Submissions must be made online via CAFÉ. Artists are responsible for all shipping and insurance costs to and from the gallery. A pre-paid return shipping label must be included with submissions.
Exhibition dates: April 2-25, 2015. Deadline to enter: March 2, 2015 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Artists will be notified of selection via email no later than March 10, 2015. Accepted work must be delivered by March 27, 2015 to Space Gallery at 400 Santa Fe Drive, Denver, CO. The juror is Dr. Christoph Heinrich, Frederick & Jan Mayer Director of the Denver Art Museum. Designated awards for select artworks up to $250. In conjunction with the exhibition, ASLD will host their biennial fundraising gala, ART&SOUL, on April 18, 2015 from 6-9 p.m., where awards will be announced. Artwork is insured for 60% of its retail value against theft or total loss while on premises.
