About This Call
The Magic Valley Arts Council announces the 14th annual Art & Soul of the Magic Valley, a non-juried art competition held June 7-29, 2024 in Twin Falls, Idaho. Artists worldwide are invited to submit one original artwork for a chance to win up to $50,000 in prize money. All submitted artworks will be physically displayed in local businesses serving as pop-up art galleries. The event attracts approximately 40,000 attendees and is one of the most beloved art shows in the Western US.
Eligibility is open to anyone. Each artist may submit one entry in one category with a $50 non-refundable entry fee. Artwork must be installed in Twin Falls by June 1, 2024 (or received two weeks prior if shipped). Artist registration must be received by midnight April 2, 2024. Each entry must be sponsored by a registered sponsor with a $100 sponsorship fee. Only original work is eligible; no kits, patterns, or AI-created art. Accepted categories include Acrylic, Ceramic, Digital, Drawing, Fiber, Glass, Mixed Media, Mural/Street Art, Oil, Original Art Quilt, Pastel, Photography, Printmaking, Sculpture (3' and under or over 3'), Uncategorized, Watermedia, Wearable, and Woodworking. There is no size limit or restriction on artwork creation year.
Winners are determined by public vote and announced at the Awards Ceremony on July 12, 2024. Prize money will be distributed to as many as 98 artists, including Grand Prize ($12,000), Second ($6,000), Third ($3,000), and Fourth ($1,500) overall, plus category-specific awards for qualified categories (those with at least 10 entries). Artwork may be listed for sale with a 20% commission payable to the Magic Valley Arts Council for sales between May 1 and August 1, 2024. Artists are responsible for transportation, installation, removal, liability, security, and meeting state and local codes.
