Art on the Street 2020

Exhibit your sculpture in Old Town Lafayette, Colorado. Artists who participate in Lafayette's Art on the Street program tell us we are one of the best programs they've experienced. Lafayette has refined its community engagement and ability to promote the AOTS program and its participating artists. Each sculpture is featured on its own web page and brochures are printed in English and Spanish.

If your sculpture is selected, the honorarium is $1,000 for a one-year installation. Three additional prizes are awarded: the $1,000 Jean Mellblom Award for Artistic Excellence, the $500 People's Choice Award, and the $500 Most Inspiring! Award. As we enter our 12th year, we have 19 Art on the Street sculpture locations to fill. On average, 1-2 sculptures have been purchased from the AOTS program each year.

Submit up to 3 photos of one sculpture per application. A photo with a yardstick or another size reference is highly encouraged. Artists may submit multiple applications (up to 3 total). Installations are scheduled for the first full week of April 7-9, 2020, with rain/snow alternate dates of April 14-16, 2020. Our public works crew will carefully and securely install your artwork to steel pedestals or concrete pads with steel inserts. Our website will feature a page for each sculpture with a photo, artist information, purchase details, and artist's statement. The mobile app Activate Lafayette! will allow users to access all Art on the Street sculpture locations and information. An annual community engagement art contest called See and Respond! highlights the Art on the Street sculptures. The official artists' reception is held each fall at the Lafayette Public Library. Jury selections will be made in November 2019, and artists will be notified in December 2019.
