About This Call
The Lafayette, Colorado Public Art Committee invites submissions for the 2016 Art on the Street (AOTS) outdoor sculpture walk. This art on loan program displays 16-18 rotating sculptures each year in Old Town Lafayette, which has become known in the area as a great arts destination.
Selected artists receive a $500 stipend and the potential to win one of two prizes: The $1000 Jean Mellblom Award and a $250 People's Choice Award. The AOTS sculptures are marketed in print, online and at special functions, and at least one sculpture has been purchased each year of the program. The committee interviews sculptors and posts edited videos online. Brochures are printed in English and Spanish. Participating artists are introduced to the community at the Art on the Street: See & Respond! event, where artists and poets study the sculptures and respond with 2-D art, photography and poetry. These entries are displayed at a meet the artists event held in the fall of 2016.
Submissions must include 2-4 images. Up to 4 applications are allowed per artist. National eligibility.
