About This Call

The Art in Public Places Commission is seeking to display unique, original artwork of a diverse range for outdoor installation. All artwork must be size/scale appropriate to available space and suitable for public display. Work will be installed in predetermined spaces selected by the panel, with concentrations in St. Stephen's Plaza and along 4th Avenue, but may also include works in alleys, breezeways, and other outdoor locations throughout the city.

Regional artists may submit up to three different works. Sculptural submissions must be durable and able to handle extreme weather conditions, including intense sunlight, high winds, hail, and freezing temperatures mixed with ice and snow. All work must tolerate direct sunlight/sun exposure; pieces that may fade will not be considered. Artwork must not be interpreted as offensive, religious, or political in nature. The selection panel will consider appropriateness, durability, uniqueness, compatibility with an available site, and safety.

Selected artists will receive a $1,000 stipend per piece after delivery and installation. The City of Longmont will be responsible for physical and financial installation. Artists are responsible for completing a City contract, submitting installation plans prior to delivery, providing specialty hardware, and transporting artwork for installation and de-installation. Artwork must be completed and available for installation April 27-29, 2026. The loan period runs through Spring 2027, when artwork will be de-installed and picked up by artists. Submissions must include up to three images per work, dimensions with installation method, equipment requirements, and contact information. Optional artist statement limited to 400 words.
