About This Call

Regional artists are invited to submit up to three different pieces for consideration in Art on the Move 2020-2021. Submissions must include up to three images per piece, a letter of interest or artist statement (maximum 400 words), resume or CV, and an annotated image list with title, year, medium/materials, dimensions, current location, value, approximate weight, and date of availability. Installation method sketches or photos with dimensions are required, along with packaging dimensions and equipment requirements for delivery and installation.

The Art in Public Places Commission seeks unique, original artwork in a diverse range of media. All artwork must be size and scale appropriate to available spaces predetermined by the selection panel. The selection panel will evaluate submissions based on artistic merit, appropriateness, durability, uniqueness, compatibility with available sites, and safety. Outdoor sculptural work must be durable and able to withstand extreme weather conditions including intense sunlight, high winds, hail, and freezing temperatures. All work must be tolerant of direct sunlight and considerations will not be made for pieces that may fade. Artwork must be completed and available for installation by summer 2020.

Selected artists will receive a $1,000 stipend per piece after delivery and installation. The City of Longmont is responsible for physical and financial installation. Artists are responsible for completing a City contract, submitting installation plans, providing specialty hardware, and transporting artwork for installation and de-installation. The City will not store packaging during the loan period. Potential installation locations include St. Stephen's Plaza, Longmont Waste Diversion Center, Kensington Park, Library/Civic Center Plaza, downtown tree grates, Longmont Museum, and Safety and Justice Center. The loaned artwork period ends in June 2021, after which artwork will be de-installed and returned to artists.
