Art on the Move 2018-2019

Art on the Move is a public art exhibition in its 14th year, bringing loaned sculptures from Colorado artists to the City of Longmont for a 12-month period. The program will exhibit up to 10 sculptures throughout the city, with a concentration in St. Stephen's Plaza, which houses five pedestals. The remaining five locations are spread throughout Longmont, including the Waste Diversion Center, Kensington Park, Library/Civic Center Plaza, Recreation Center, and Roosevelt Park.

Artwork must be durable and able to withstand all weather conditions, including intense sunlight, high winds, and freezing temperatures mixed with ice and snow. All media will be considered, but work must adhere to specific space criteria as pedestals are of set sizes. There is no theme this year; artists are encouraged to propose interactive, kinetic, or self-illuminating artwork. Artwork must be appropriate for public display and will not be considered if any offensive, religious, or political messages may be interpreted.

Colorado artists may submit up to three different pieces, with a maximum of three images per piece. Submissions must include a letter of interest or artist statement (limit 400 words), resume or CV, annotated image list with title, year, medium/materials, dimensions, current location, cost, approximate weight, and date of availability, as well as dimensions of base and preferred installation method. Selected artists will receive a $750 stipend per piece after delivery and installation. The City of Longmont is responsible for installation; artists are responsible for delivery and pickup. Installation is scheduled for late June/early July 2018, with artwork to be de-installed in June 2019.
