About This Call
Downtown Grand Junction, a State Certified Creative District, invites artists to submit 3D sculptures for Art on the Corner 2024, a temporary outdoor exhibit featuring rotating sculptures displayed throughout the Main Street corridor in the historic downtown shopping park.
The 2024 exhibit will be co-curated by George Turner and Justin Squier. Artists may apply up to 5 times, with each application featuring one sculpture shown in 3-5 photographs from all sides. Sculptures must be made of materials that endure all elements and are resistant to vandalism. Artwork selection criteria prioritize artistic excellence, permanence, compatibility with the downtown area, and public safety. Eligible artists must live within a reasonable driving distance of Grand Junction, work only in 3D mediums, and offer artwork for sale. Artwork previously shown with Art on the Corner is not eligible.
Accepted artists receive a $1,000 honorarium after installation, plus two nights of lodging (October 4-5, 2024) and attendance at an Artist's Welcome Reception. Best in Show Awards will be presented on October 5, 2024, with award payments issued 2-3 weeks after installation. A People's Choice Award will be open for voting from installation through November 9. The artwork will be on display for twelve months. Artists must deliver their sculpture and be present for installation on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 7:00 a.m. Artists are responsible for all design, labor, materials, transportation, and removal expenses. Art on the Corner will handle sales and retain a 25% commission on any artwork purchases during or resulting from the exhibit. Accepted artists must sign an Exhibit Contract. For installation details, contact Sarah at [email protected] or 970-852-9041.
