Art of the State 2025 - A Juried Exhibition of Colorado

Art of the State 2025 is a juried exhibition held every three years at the Arvada Center Galleries. The exhibition runs January 16 - March 30, 2025, and showcases contemporary art from Colorado artists. All 10,000 square feet of the galleries will be filled with work selected by jurors Jane Burke (Curator, Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art), Christopher Herron (Interim Director and Curator, Kirkland Museum of Fine and Decorative Art), and Collin Parson (Director of Galleries and Curator, Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities).

Eligibility is open to all artists over age 18 who currently reside in Colorado. All media are eligible, including installations, performances, and new media pieces. Artwork must be original work created within the past 3 years (2022-2025) and must not have been previously shown at the Arvada Center. Framed and 2D work must be ready to hang and not exceed 6 feet in any direction or weigh more than 100 lbs. Sculpture should not exceed 8 feet in any direction. The non-refundable entry fee is $35 for up to 3 pieces. Limited entrance fee scholarships are available for artists experiencing economic hardship, artists who identify as Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC), and artists who identify as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community. Accepted artwork may be shipped (arriving no later than December 16, 2024) or hand-delivered December 19-20, 9:30am - 4:30pm. The Arvada Center provides insurance for artworks while on premises. Cash awards will be given for Best of Show, 2nd, and 3rd place, with other independent awards also given. If artwork is sold, artists receive 60% of sale proceeds; the Arvada Center retains 40% (or 20% if the artist is represented by a gallery, which receives 20%). Unsold works may be picked up March 31-April 1, 2025. Email notification of acceptance will be sent by November 8, 2024. The opening reception is January 16, 2025, 6pm - 9pm.
