Art of the State 2022 - A Juried Exhibition of Colorado

Art of the State 2022 is a juried exhibition showcasing contemporary art from Colorado artists. The exhibition fills all 10,000 square feet of the Arvada Center Galleries with work representing the diversity, quality, and depth of art from across the state. This triennial exhibition continues a legacy that began in 2013, with previous iterations in 2016 and 2019.

Eligibility is open to all artists over age 18 who currently reside in Colorado. All media are eligible, including installations, performances, and new media pieces. Artwork must be original, created within the past three years (2019-2022), and not previously shown at the Arvada Center. Framed/2D work must be ready to hang, not exceed 6 feet in any direction, and weigh less than 100 lbs. Sculpture may not exceed 8 feet in any direction. The non-refundable entry fee is $35 for up to 3 pieces. Submissions must include JPG images only, cropped to exclude framing and background, labeled as Lastname_Firstname_Piecenumber.jpg.

The entry deadline is October 17, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Accepted artists will be notified by November 5, 2021. Artwork may be hand-delivered December 28-29, 2021 from 9:30am-4:30pm, or shipped to arrive no later than December 20, 2021 in sturdy, reusable containers with pre-paid return shipping labels. The exhibition runs January 20 - March 27, 2022, with an opening reception and awards ceremony on January 20 at 6pm and 7:30pm respectively. Cash awards will be given for Best of Show, 2nd, and 3rd place, along with other independent awards. The Arvada Center retains a 40% commission on artwork sales. Unsold works may be picked up April 30-May 1, 2022.
