Art of the State 2022

Art of the State is an annual juried exhibition open to Pennsylvania artists and craftspeople, held at The State Museum of Pennsylvania. Presented by The State Museum of Pennsylvania in cooperation with the Pennsylvania Heritage Foundation, the 55th Art of the State exhibition offers cash awards for selected entries in five categories: Painting, Work on Paper, Photography & Digital Media, Sculpture, and Craft.

Entry fee is $30 for up to 4 works of art. Artists may submit between 1 and 4 total samples, which can include images and videos. The final deadline to submit entries is Friday, May 6, 2022 at 11:59 PM. Eligible artists are Pennsylvania residents. The exhibition will be open from Sunday, September 11, 2022 until Sunday, January 15, 2023.

Awards include First Place ($500), Second Place ($300), and Third Place ($200) in each of the five categories. Additional awards include the William D. Davis Memorial Award for Drawing ($250) and The State Museum Art Docents' Choice Award ($300). For Photography & Digital Media submissions, artists are required to provide a media player, speakers, and screen for exhibition display purposes. Media should be programmed to play on a continuous loop with automatic start capability. Assistance is available by email and phone from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Friday.
