Art of the Cosmos

Art of the Cosmos will feature 25 international artists in the fields of Painting, Sculpture, Glass, Music, Video, Digital, Light, Mixed Media, Photography, Drawing and Other—all inspired by dynamic images from the Hubble Space Telescope. The exhibition will run approximately 4 months (mid-April through August 2020). Exact dates and location are to be determined. A partner event, the StARs Creativity Conference, will take place in the early weeks of the show.

The curators are seeking large, dramatic pieces that capture the feel of space and inspire through scale. Artists working in smaller formats are encouraged to consider how their work might be grouped in multiples for higher impact. All approaches and concepts are welcome, including literal interpretations of Hubble imagery as well as interpretations exploring Myth, Symbolism, Culture, Evolution and Consciousness. Artists may also submit concept proposals for pieces not yet created, including concept images or maquettes with detailed descriptions of size, media and installation requirements. Accepted concept pieces must be completed and ready to install by the end of February 2020.

Eligibility is open to international artists over 16 years old. The entry fee is $30. Artists may submit up to 3 applications in different categories. Work sample requirements: 4-6 images (minimum 4, maximum 6), with optional audio (maximum 1 file) and/or video (maximum 1 file), for a total of 4-8 samples. Maximum file sizes: 5 MB per image (30 MB per application), 10 MB per audio file, 100 MB per video file. Music and video submissions must include 4-6 image stills. Artists will be notified of acceptance by December 30, 2018.

Selected artists receive 2 free tickets to the Celebrity Gala Opening and 2 free tickets to the StARs Creativity Conference. Artists' work will be featured in the Gala Catalogue, Event Brochure, Video Series and social media promotion. Art of the Cosmos will pay shipping and insurance to the exhibit and for return of unsold works. A 25% sales commission applies to sold works, with payment made within 30 days of the close of the show. All unsold works will be returned within 30 days of the exhibit's close.
