Art of Photography 2025

The Prairie Village Arts Council's 8th Annual Art of Photography is a juried competition and exhibition open to photographers 18 years of age or older whose submitted works are created independently. This regional art show is open primarily to Missouri and Kansas artists within driving distance to deliver artwork, attend the reception, and pick up artwork after the show if not sold.

Three photography categories are available: People and Portraits of People (no nudes); Architecture, Landscapes, and Nature/Wildlife; and Abstract/non-traditional/photo-collage/highly digitally enhanced. All images must be original photographs taken with a camera. Nine entries are allowed, with a maximum of 3 per category. Entry fee is $35.00 for the first image and $5.00 for each additional image. Diptychs or triptychs may be submitted as one entry. Accepted artwork must be delivered matted in white and framed in black, with a minimum interior frame size of 11"x14". The Prairie Village Arts Council has used frames available in sizes 11"x14", 16"x20", and 20"x24" for sale at $3 each. All work must be for sale, and prices listed on the entry form are binding and cannot be changed after acceptance.

Awards include one Best of Show ($750), three Best of Category awards ($500 each), six Honorable Mention awards ($200 each), and one People's Choice Award ($250). The exhibition runs May 6 - July 5, 2025, with display beginning May 12 and an artists' reception on May 14, 2025 from 7:00 - 8:30pm with awards presentation at 8pm. A 10% sales commission applies to the Prairie Village Arts Council.
