Art of Photography 2024

The Prairie Village Arts Council's 7th Annual Art of Photography is a juried competition and exhibition open to photographers 18 years of age or older whose submitted works are created independently. This regional art show is open primarily to Missouri and Kansas artists within driving distance to deliver artwork, attend the reception, and pick up artwork after the show if not sold.

Three photography categories are available: People and Portraits of People (no nudes); Architecture, Landscapes, and Nature/Wildlife; and Abstract/non-traditional/photo-collage/highly digitally enhanced. All images must be original photographs taken with a camera. Artists may enter up to nine images total, with a maximum of three per category. Only one entry per category per artist will be accepted for the show. Entry fee is $30.00 for the first image and $3.00 for each additional image. A diptych or triptych can be submitted as one entry.

Accepted artwork must be delivered matted in white and framed in black, with a minimum frame size of 11"x14" interior dimension. The Prairie Village Arts Council has frames available in sizes 11"x14", 16"x20", and 20"x24" for sale at $5 each. All work must be for sale, and prices listed on the entry form are binding and cannot be changed after acceptance. The sales commission to the Prairie Village Arts Council is 10%. The exhibition runs May 6 - July 5, 2024, with an artists' reception on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 from 7:00 - 8:30pm and awards presentation beginning at 8pm. Awards include one Best of Show ($750), three Best of Category awards ($500 each), six Honorable Mention awards ($200 each), and one People's Choice Award ($250). The juror is Philipp Eirich of Cerbera Gallery in Kansas City.
