Art of Photography 2022

The Prairie Village Arts Council's 5th Annual Art of Photography is a juried competition and exhibition open to all photographers 18 years of age or older whose submitted works are created independently. The exhibition will be on display beginning Monday, May 9th, with an artists' reception on Friday, May 13, 2022. A virtual gallery may be available on the Arts Council's website concurrent with the gallery show if pandemic cautions advise.

Three categories are available: People and Portraits of People (no nudes), Landscapes and Architecture, and Abstract/non-traditional/photo-collage/highly digitally enhanced work. All images must be original photographs taken with a camera. Nine entries are allowed, with a maximum of 3 per category; only one entry per category per artist will be accepted for the show. Accepted artwork must be matted and fit into a standard size frame: 11"x14", 16"x20", or 20"x24". All work must be for sale, and prices listed on the entry form are binding and cannot be changed after acceptance. The sales commission to the Prairie Village Arts Council is 40%.

Entry fee is $30.00 for the first image and $3.00 for each additional image. Awards include one "Best of Show" award at $750, three "Best of Category" awards at $500 each, six "Honorable Mention" awards at $200 each (2 per category), and one "Peoples' Choice" Award of $250. The juror is Angie Jennings, a photographer with over 30 years of experience and President of the Kansas City Society of Contemporary Photography.
