About This Call
The R.G. Endres Gallery annual Art of Photography competition is held every year during the month of April. In 2021, the 4th year of the competition, the show will be virtual and run for two months through the end of May.
The competition is open to all photographers, 18 years of age or older, whose submitted works are created with a camera, independent of any supervision. Three categories are available: People and Portraits of People; Landscapes and Architecture; and Abstract / non-traditional / photo-collage / highly digitally enhanced. Nine entries are allowed, with a maximum of 3 per category. Only one entry per category per artist will be accepted for the show, though it is possible for one artist to have three works in the show, one in each category. A diptych or triptych can be submitted as one entry. Entry fee is $30.00 for the first image and $3.00 for each additional image. Fees are non-refundable. All work must be for sale and matted to fit into a standard size frame: 11" X 14", 16" X 20", 20" X 24" or 24" X 36". The gallery's sales commission is 40%.
Awards include one "Best of Show" at $750, three "Best of Category" awards at $500.00 each, six "Honorable Mention" awards (two per category) at $200.00 each, and a "People's Choice" award of $250.00. Submissions opened January 30, 2021 with a deadline of March 12, 2021. Finalists will be notified March 17, 2021, and the show opens April 5, 2021. Awards will be announced April 9, 2021. The juror is Aaron Smith, an accomplished contemporary artist and professor of visual art and photography at Johnson County Community College.
