ART NOIR 2025

ART NOIR is an exhibition running April 3-26, 2025, produced by The Studio Door. The exhibition explores the shadowy world of suspense, mystery, and psychological tension, intersecting with pop culture and fine art. Drawing inspiration from Film Noir, Pulp Magazines, and early sci-fi TV shows like The Twilight Zone, the exhibition invites artists to explore themes of ambiguity, tension, and the unknown. Artists are encouraged to submit works that provoke, unsettle, and intrigue, celebrating the interplay between light and dark, fear and fascination, reality and imagination.

The juror is Patric Stillman, Gallery Owner of The Studio Door. Three artists will receive a Juror's Award certificate and $100 for artworks that best embody the ART NOIR theme. Jurors will value originality, artistic execution, and the ability to evoke narrative and mood through visual elements. All artwork selected will be included in the ART NOIR 2025 national exhibition catalog. Works can be exhibited in the physical gallery in San Diego, in the online gallery only, or both. A public reception is scheduled for Thursday, April 10, 2025, from 6-9 PM.

Entry fee is $35 for one work and $5 for each additional work (up to 3 total images). Artists must submit 1-3 images. 2-D artwork must arrive gallery ready and ready to hang, preferably in black wood or natural wood frames with plexi only (no glass). Glass and ceramic pieces will only be accepted if hand-delivered and picked up by the artist. Shipped artwork must be received by March 28, 2025. Hand-delivery is available Saturday, March 29, 2025 (11 AM-5 PM). Artists will be notified of selection by March 5, 2025.
