About This Call
Art Melt is a juried all-media art show featuring only Louisiana artists. The event takes place from 6-10pm on Friday, July 16 at the Louisiana State Museum in downtown Baton Rouge. Selected works will hang in the museum for 6 weeks (July 2 - August 27, 2011). The event celebrates the arts with live entertainment and performance art alongside the visual exhibition.
Eligibility: Open to artists age 18 or older residing in Louisiana. Art must be original and completed in the last two years; no reproductions accepted. Entry fee is $35 (non-refundable) and includes up to 3 submissions and images for one artist. Limit one entry per artist with up to 3 submissions, each represented by at least 1 image. Size restrictions: sculpture must not exceed 84 inches by 50 inches and weigh no more than 100 lbs; two-dimensional work must not exceed 72 inches in any direction; video/shorts must not exceed 10 minutes. Two-dimensional works must be framed or gallery wrapped with white mattes only. All work must be finished to museum quality.
Awards: First Place $2,000, Second Place $1,000, Third Place $500. Forum 35 Award winner's work is featured on the following year's commemorative poster. Country Roads Magazine Award includes artist and work featured in the magazine. Forum 35 takes a 33% commission on all works sold. Accepted works must be hand-delivered to the Louisiana State Museum (660 North 4th Street) between 12:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on July 2nd. Works must be picked up by August 29, 2010 between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.; a $10.00 per day storage fee applies for late pickups. Works chosen for the exhibit have "On Premises" insurance only.
