Art Melt 2018

Art Melt is in its 15th year and promotes professional artists throughout Louisiana while providing an opportunity for the public to experience the best of local fine art, music, performing arts and culinary creation. Show winners will be announced at the Preview Party on July 20th.

Eligibility: Open to artists ages 18 or older residing in Louisiana. Art must be original and produced within the past two years. No reproductions accepted. Entry fee is $65 (non-refundable) and includes up to 5 submissions and images for one artist. Limit to 5 submissions per entry, with each submission represented by at least 1 image. Awards: First Place $2,000, Second Place $1,000, Third Place $500.

Work Requirements: Sculpture dimensions must not exceed 84 inches by 50 inches and must not weigh more than 100 pounds. Two-dimensional work must not exceed 72 inches in any direction. White mattes only. All accepted entries must be ready for gallery installation. Two-dimensional works must be framed or gallery wrapped and finished to museum quality with screw eyes or track mount clips and hanging wire. Three-dimensional work must be ready for gallery installation. Pieces submitted will be presented blindly to a jury of non-committee members consisting of museum curators and recognized art professionals. Forum 35 will take a 33% commission on all works sold. Works chosen for the exhibit will have "On Premises" insurance only. Accepted works must be hand delivered to the Capitol Park Museum, 660 North 4th Street, Baton Rouge between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Friday, July 13th or Saturday, July 14th. Artwork not sold must be picked up between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on August 24-25. A storage fee of $10.00 per day will be charged for any art left after August 25.
