About This Call
Art Melt 2017 is open to Louisiana residents ages 18 or older. In its 14th year, the exhibition promotes professional artists throughout Louisiana while providing an opportunity for the public to experience local fine art, music, performing arts, and culinary creation. Art must be original and produced within the past two years; no reproductions are accepted. The entry fee is $40 (non-refundable) and includes up to 3 submissions and images for one artist. Submissions are limited to 3 pieces per entry, with each submission represented by at least 1 image.
Awards include First Place $2000, Second Place $1000, and Third Place $500. Show winners will be announced at the Preview Party on July 21st. Sculpture dimensions must not exceed 84 inches by 50 inches and must not weigh more than 100 pounds. Two-dimensional work must not exceed 72 inches in any direction and must use white mattes only. All accepted entries must be ready for gallery installation and finished to museum quality. Two-dimensional works must be framed or gallery wrapped with screw eyes or track mount clips and a hanging wire attached. Three-dimensional work must be ready for installation; pieces requiring assembly are accepted only if the artist or a qualified individual assembles them.
Forum 35 will take a 33% commission on all works sold. The price submitted during application must be the price listed at the event with no exceptions. Accepted works must be hand delivered to the Capitol Park Museum lobby (660 North 4th Street, Baton Rouge) between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Friday, July 14th or Saturday, July 15th. Artwork not sold must be picked up between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on August 25-26; a storage fee of $10.00 per day applies for any art left after August 26. Works chosen for the exhibit will have "On Premises" insurance only. Forum 35 reserves the right to reproduce selected works for publicity purposes.
