Art Melt 2016

Art Melt 2016 is open to Louisiana residents ages 18 or older. In its 13th year, the event promotes professional artists throughout Louisiana while providing an opportunity for the public to experience fine art, music, performing arts, and culinary creation. The event is free and open to the public. Art Melt will open Saturday, July 23, 2016 from 5-10 p.m. at the Capitol Park Museum in downtown Baton Rouge along 4th Street. All artwork accepted to the competition will remain on display in the Capitol Park Museum gallery for six weeks following Art Melt.

Artwork must be original and produced within the past two years. No reproductions are accepted. Submissions are limited to 3 per entry, with each submission represented by at least 1 image and up to 3 images total. The entry fee is $40 (non-refundable) and includes up to 3 submissions. Sculpture dimensions must not exceed 84 inches by 50 inches and must not weigh more than 100 pounds. Two-dimensional work must not exceed 72 inches in any direction. White mattes only, no exceptions. All accepted entries must be ready for gallery installation and finished to museum quality.

Awards: First Place $2,000, Second Place $1,000, Third Place $500. Forum 35 will take a 33% commission on all works sold. Pieces will be selected by a jury of non-committee members consisting of museum curators and recognized art professionals. Accepted works must be hand delivered to the Louisiana State Museum at 660 North 4th Street between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Friday, July 15th or Saturday, July 16th. Works must be picked up between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on September 2nd or 3rd. A storage fee of $10.00 per day will be charged for any art left after September 3rd.
