About This Call

Art Melt 2015 is open to Louisiana residents ages 18 or older. In its 12th year, the event promotes professional artists throughout Louisiana while providing an opportunity for the public to experience fine art, music, performing arts, and culinary creation. The event is free and open to the public. Art Melt opens Saturday, July 25, 2015 from 5-10 p.m. at the Capitol Park Museum in downtown Baton Rouge along 4th Street. All artwork accepted to the competition will remain on display in the Capitol Park Museum gallery for six weeks following Art Melt.

Eligibility: Open to artists ages 18 or older residing in Louisiana. Art must be original and produced within the past two years. No reproductions accepted. Limit one entry which includes up to 3 submissions per artist. Each submission must be represented by at least 1 image. Sculpture dimensions must not exceed 84 inches by 50 inches and must not weigh more than 100 pounds. Two-dimensional work must not exceed 72 inches in any direction. White mattes only, no exceptions. All accepted entries must be ready for gallery installation. Two-dimensional works must be framed or gallery wrapped and finished to museum quality. All frames must have screw eyes or track mount clips for installation and a hanging wire attached to the back. Three-dimensional work must be ready for gallery installation.

Entry fee is $40 non-refundable and includes up to 3 submissions and images for one artist. Awards: First Place $2000, Second Place $1000, Third Place $500. Forum 35 will take a 33% commission on all works sold. Works chosen for the exhibit will have "On Premises" insurance only. Accepted works must be hand delivered to the Louisiana State Museum at 660 North 4th Street between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Friday, July 17th or Saturday, July 18th. Accepted works must be picked up by the artist or designated representative between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on August 28th or 29th. A storage fee of $10.00 per day will be charged for any art left after August 29th.
