About This Call
Art Melt 2014 is an exhibition for Louisiana residents only. In its 11th year, the event promotes professional artists throughout Louisiana while providing an opportunity for the public to experience local fine art, music, performing arts, and culinary creation. The event is free and open to the public. Art Melt opens Saturday, July 19, 2014 from 5-10 p.m. at the Louisiana State Museum in downtown Baton Rouge along 4th Street. All artwork accepted to the competition will remain on display in the Louisiana State Museum gallery for six weeks following Art Melt.
Eligibility is open to artists ages 18 or older residing in Louisiana. Art must be original and produced within the past two years; no reproductions are accepted. The entry fee is $35 (non-refundable) and includes up to 3 submissions and images for one artist. Each submission must be represented by at least 1 image. Sculpture dimensions must not exceed 84 inches by 50 inches and must not weigh more than 100 pounds. Two-dimensional work must not exceed 72 inches in any direction. White mattes only, no exceptions. All accepted entries must be ready for gallery installation and finished to museum quality.
Awards include First Place $2000, Second Place $1000, and Third Place $500. Forum 35 will take a 33% commission on all works sold. Pieces will be selected by a jury of non-committee members consisting of museum curators and recognized art professionals. Works chosen for the exhibit will have "On Premises" insurance only.
