Art Melt 2012

The 9th annual Forum 35 Art Melt will take place from 5-10pm on Saturday, July 14 at the Shaw Center for the Arts in downtown Baton Rouge. Selected works will hang in the Shaw Center Gallery and be open to the public for 3 weeks. This event features professional art exhibits alongside local music, performance art, artisan vendors, and culinary offerings.

Eligibility: Open to Louisiana residents ages 18 or older. Art must be original and produced within the past two years; no reproductions accepted. Entry fee is $35 (non-refundable) and includes up to 3 submissions and images for one artist. Limit one entry per artist. Two-dimensional work must not exceed 72 inches in any direction and must be framed or gallery wrapped with white mattes only. Sculpture dimensions must not exceed 84 inches by 50 inches and must not weigh more than 100 pounds. All work must be finished to museum quality and ready for gallery installation.

Awards include First Place $2000, Second Place $1000, Third Place $500, and special awards: Forum 35 Award (work featured on next year's commemorative poster), Country Roads Magazine Award (artist and work featured in magazine), Camelot Club Award (3-4 week solo show), and Ann Connelly Award (solo show in Ann Connelly Gallery). Forum 35 takes a 33% commission on all works sold. Works chosen for the exhibit have "On Premises" insurance only. Accepted works must be hand delivered to the Shaw Center lobby (100 Lafayette St.) between 12:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on July 5, 2012. Works must be picked up by August 5 between 12:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.; a $10 per day storage fee applies after that date.
