Art Matters 2020

Art Matters 2020 is the 6th Juried Fine Art Exhibition and Sale held by The San Marino League, taking place March 27-29, 2020 at the Brody Botanical Center at The Huntington Library, Art Museum and Botanical Gardens in San Marino, California (1151 Oxford Road, San Marino, CA 91108). The exhibition is open to painters of any medium and will coincide with The Huntington's year-long Centennial Celebration.

Qualifying paintings include oils, watercolor, acrylic, mixed media, pastels, and gouache with no restrictions on subject matter or style. Each artist may submit up to 3 works, which must be framed and ready for display with sizes between 64 and 864 square inches (excluding frame). All artwork must be juried, for sale, and submitted with a non-changeable sale price. The entry fee is $45 for up to 3 entries (non-refundable). Featured Artists and San Marino League Members are exempt from the entry fee. Submissions close January 10, 2020. Jurors' decisions will be announced February 7, 2020.

Cash awards include $1,000 for Best in Show, $500 for 2nd Place, $250 for 3rd Place, $300 for Best depiction of an iconic landscape or structure in Pasadena or surrounding Los Angeles area, and $100 for Best New Artist. An Opening Night Reception and Sale for invited guests and artists is scheduled for Friday, March 27, with the exhibition and sale open to the public Saturday and Sunday, March 28-29. All accepted artists are invited to participate in a Paint Out at The Huntington on February 24-26, 2020. Sales are split 50% to the artist and 50% to the San Marino League, with the League's proceeds divided equally between Student Fine Arts Scholarships at ArtCenter College of Design and the Japanese Garden Endowment at The Huntington. Local artists must deliver artwork March 25; non-local artists are responsible for shipping costs through Box & Ship in Pasadena, CA.
