Art League of Hilton Head 2019 Biennale

Art League of Hilton Head invites entries for the 2019 Biennale, its 26th National Juried Exhibition held every other year across multiple media types. The exhibition runs May 7 to June 1, 2019, at Art League Gallery in the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Over $5,000 in cash prizes will be awarded. The 2019 juror is Alan Flattmann, an internationally known artist accomplished in oil, watercolor, and pastel, and author of The Art of Pastel Painting. His work has been featured in over 40 art books and magazines and shown in more than 60 solo exhibitions.

Each artist may enter up to three pieces of original artwork created within the last three years and never previously accepted into an Art League of Hilton Head juried show. Only one piece per artist will be accepted into the show. Entry fee is $35 for the first entry, then $10 for each additional entry up to three. All entries are juried from digital images. Accepted media categories include oil or acrylic on canvas or board, watermedia, pastel, mixed media, three-dimensional art, photography, drawing, and original prints. Giclées, photo reproductive processes, and computer art are not acceptable. Artwork must be original in concept, composition, and execution, and not copied from published or copyrighted work. Artwork created under instructor supervision is not eligible.

All exhibited work must be for sale and priced with intent to sell. Art League of Hilton Head will retain a 40% commission on all sales occurring during or as a result of the show. Framed works must be protected by plexiglass where appropriate; only pastel pieces may be covered with glass. Artwork must be appropriately framed or gallery wrapped canvas and wired for hanging. Pieces may not exceed 48"x60" including frame. Sculptures and three-dimensional art must not exceed 30" horizontal and 60" vertical, or weigh more than 50 pounds. Notification date is April 5, 2019. An Awards Reception will be held Friday, May 10, 2019, from 5-7 P.M.
