About This Call
The Art League of Hilton Head invites entries for the 2015 Biennale, its 24th National Juried Exhibition held every other year across multiple media types. Over $7,000 in cash prizes will be awarded. All selected works will be displayed at the Walter Greer Gallery in the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina on Hilton Head Island, SC. The competition is open to all artists, both professional and amateur.
The judge is Carrie Burns Brown, NWS from Greenville, SC, a noted instructor, water media artist and national juror with over 40 years of teaching experience. She has been an instructor at the Greenville Museum Center for Education since 1977 and at the Springmaid Watermedia Workshops since 1985. She serves on the board of the South Carolina Arts Commission and the Advisory Board of the Greenville Little Theater.
Each artist may enter up to three pieces of original artwork created within the last three years and never previously accepted into an Art League of Hilton Head juried show. Only one piece per artist will be accepted. All entries will be juried from digital images. Eligible media include: oil or acrylic on canvas or board; watermedia (watercolor or acrylic on paper under plexiglass); pastel; mixed media; three-dimensional art; photography (digital or conventional); and other media including drawing and original prints (excludes giclees, photo reproductive processes, and computer art). Artwork must be original in concept, composition and execution, and not copied from published or copyrighted work. Artwork created under instructor supervision is not eligible.
All exhibited work must be for sale and priced with intent to sell. A 40% commission will be retained on all sales during or resulting from the show. All works must be quality framed and protected with plexiglass where appropriate. Pieces may not exceed 48"x48" including frame. Sculptures and three-dimensional art may not exceed 60" vertical and 30" horizontal, or weigh more than 50 pounds. Entry fee is $35.00, with an additional $10.00 media fee for extra images. The opening reception and awards presentation will be held Friday, May 8, 2015. Exhibition dates are May 8-31, 2015.
