About This Call
The Art Jewelry Forum's Emerging Artist Award acknowledges promise, innovation, and individuality in the work of emerging jewelry artists and helps advance their careers. The award consists of an unrestricted cash award of $5,000.
The competition is open to makers of wearable art jewelry who have completed their academic or professional training and have been out of school for at least one year from the date of submission. Work submitted must have been unsupervised; work from BFA/MFA shows may not be submitted.
Applicants must submit a current one-page resume, an artist statement of approximately 200 words or less than 1000 characters relating to the work submitted, and ten digital images showing 6-7 pieces of work. One image must show a piece being worn, and one must show the back of a piece. Each image must include the artist name, title of piece, dimensions, year produced, and materials. For every image submitted (except the piece being worn and back of piece), the winning applicant must have a high-resolution (300dpi or higher TIFF file) immediately available to AJF for use in print media. The submission deadline is midnight MST on September 30, 2011. Jurors for the 2011 competition are Perry Price (Assistant Curator of Exhibitions and Collections at Fuller Craft Museum, Brockton, Massachusetts), Marion Fulk (long-standing AJF member and collector of contemporary jewelry), and Agnes Larsson (jewelry artist and recipient of the AJF's 2010 Emerging Artist Award).
