Art is the Best Medicine

In connection with the 2024 Missouri Southern State University Artful Medicine: Art, Humanities, and Patient Outcomes Symposium, this juried exhibition seeks visual art that exemplifies the connections between medicine and the arts. The exhibition will be displayed during the national symposium at MSSU campus in Joplin, Missouri in the Billingsly Student Union on November 15, 2024. The symposium presents ideas on medical education, health equity, art and design innovation, the art of diagnosis, art therapy, and art and medicine from a historical perspective.

All registered participants of the symposium are eligible to submit up to 3 works of art. Entries must be original artworks created by the artist entering the competition, not shown in a previous MSSU Artful Medicine Symposium, and must have been created in the last three years. Accepted art must be identical to the image submitted for entry with no substitutions. Work samples may include up to 3 images, 1 audio file, and 1 video file (minimum 1 sample required, maximum 3 total samples). The entry deadline is October 27, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. MDT.
