ART IN THE TIME OF CORONA™ (VOL.3) | The Final Installment

ART IN THE TIME OF CORONA™ is a global art project launched by Dab Art Co. in April 2020 in response to the pandemic. The project selects 30-40 new artists each month for exhibition and has selected almost 1000 artists to participate. The goal is to record and exhibit defining artwork created during civil uncertainty. Year 3 (VOL.3) runs through 2023 and features an ongoing online exhibition updated monthly, a full color publication of all selected works, international and multi-city gallery exhibitions, and a documentary film short.

The project is divided into three phases. Phase 1 includes an online exhibition running through March 2023, with artists and artworks reviewed and added monthly. Selected works will be featured on the Dab Art Co. website and ARTSY, which receives 2.2 million+ unique visitors monthly. Phase 2 includes publication of a full color 8.5x11 inch art book in February 2023, which will be added to the permanent catalog in the LACMA Balch Art Research Library. Ten artists will receive additional features in the publication and receive hardback copies. Phase 3 includes multi-gallery 8-week exhibitions in Los Angeles (CA), Ventura (CA), Austin (TX), and Mexico City (MX) scheduled for spring 2023. A documentary film short will be produced and screened in Los Angeles.

Accepted artwork includes painting, printmaking, sculpture, glass, fiber, functional, digital, photography, installation, mixed media, and new genres. Entry fee is $35 for 3 images; additional images cost $5 each (maximum 20 images). An optional video consultation with the gallery director is available for $100. Submissions should include at least 3 images, biography, and artist statement. All work selected must remain available for sale for the duration of the project. Gallery exhibitions require original, unsold work with professional framing and proper wiring. Notifications are sent via email within 2 weeks after the close of each calendar month. Gallery exhibition notifications will be sent by January 31, 2023.
