About This Call
ART IN THE TIME OF CORONA™ is a global art project launched by Dab Art Co. in April 2020 in response to the pandemic. The project selects 30-40 new artists each month for exhibition and has already selected almost 1000 artists. The goal is to record and exhibit defining artwork created during civil uncertainty. The project runs through 2023 and is divided into three phases: an ongoing online exhibition (updated monthly), a full color publication, and multi-city gallery exhibitions.
Phase 1 features an online exhibition where artists and artworks are reviewed and added monthly. All selected artists and artwork will be featured on the Dab Art Co. website and ARTSY, an international sales platform that receives 2.2 million+ unique visitors monthly. The online exhibition will run through March 2023. Phase 2 includes publication of a full color 8.5x11 inch art book titled ART IN THE TIME OF CORONA™ | Vol. 3, to be released in February 2023 and added to the permanent catalog in the LACMA Balch Art Research Library. Ten artists from the online show will receive additional features in the publication and a hardback copy. Phase 3 consists of multi-gallery 8-week exhibitions at Dab Art Co. Galleries scheduled for spring/summer 2023. A documentary film short will also be produced, with screening in Los Angeles.
Accepted artwork includes painting, printmaking, sculpture, glass, fiber, functional, digital, photography, installation, mixed media and new genres. Entry fee is $35 for 3 images; additional images cost $5 each (maximum 20 images). An optional video consultation with the gallery director is available for $100. Notifications for online exhibition are sent via email within 2 weeks after the close of each calendar month. Gallery exhibition notifications will be sent by January 31, 2023. All work selected online must remain available for sale for the entirety of the project. Artists are responsible for round-trip shipping and insurance of artwork.
