About This Call
ART IN THE TIME OF CORONA™ is a global art project launched by Dab Art Co. in April 2020 in response to the pandemic. The project selects 30-40 new artists each month for exhibition and has selected almost 1000 artists to participate. The goal is to record and exhibit defining artwork created during civil uncertainty. Year 3 (VOL.3) will run through 2023 and includes an ongoing online exhibition updated monthly, a full color publication, international and multi-city gallery exhibitions, and a documentary film short.
Accepted artwork includes painting, printmaking, sculpture, glass, fiber, functional, digital, photography, installation, mixed media and new genres. Submissions require a minimum of 3 images and maximum of 20 images. Entry fee is $35 for 3 images; additional images cost $5 each. An optional video consultation with the gallery director is available for $100. Artists selected for the online exhibition will be featured on the Dab Art Co. website and ARTSY platform. Notifications for online exhibition selections are sent via email within 2 weeks after the close of each calendar month. Gallery exhibition selections will be notified by January 31, 2023.
A full color publication titled ART IN THE TIME OF CORONA™ | Vol. 3 will be released in Summer 2023 and will include all selected works, artist interviews, juror commentary, and curator notes. The publication will be added to the permanent catalog in the LACMA Balch Art Research Library. Ten artists from the online exhibition will receive additional features in the publication and a hardback copy of the book. Gallery exhibitions will be held at all Dab Art Co. locations during spring/summer 2023. All work selected must remain available for sale for the entirety of the project and must be original, unsold work with the artist owning sole copyright. Artists are responsible for round-trip shipping and insurance of artwork.
