About This Call
ART IN THE TIME OF CORONA™ is a comprehensive pandemic art project launched by Dab Art Co. in April 2020. The project selects 30-40 new artists each month for exhibition and will run through 2023, divided into three phases.
Phase 1 features an ongoing online exhibition updated monthly, with artworks reviewed and juried for addition throughout the year. Selected artists and artworks will be featured on the Dab Art Co. website and ARTSY, an international sales platform that receives 2.2 million+ unique visitors monthly. The online exhibition will continue through March 2023. Phase 2 includes publication of a full-color art book titled ART IN THE TIME OF CORONA™ | Vol. 2, to be released in Summer 2022, featuring all selected works, artist interviews, juror commentary, and curator notes. The publication will be added to the permanent catalog in the LACMA Balch Art Research Library. Ten artists from the online exhibition will receive additional features in the publication and a hardback copy of the book. Phase 3 consists of multi-gallery exhibitions held simultaneously in four cities: Los Angeles (CA), Ventura (CA), Austin (TX), and Mexico City (MX) in Spring 2022. A documentary film short will also be produced, screening in Los Angeles in Summer 2022.
Accepted artwork includes painting, printmaking, sculpture, glass, fiber, functional, digital, photography, installation, mixed media, and new genres. Entry fee is $35 for 3 images; additional images cost $5 each (maximum 20 images). An optional video consultation with the gallery director is available for $100. All selected work must remain available for sale for the duration of the project. Notifications are sent via email within 2 weeks after the close of each calendar month. Gallery exhibition notifications will be sent by January 31, 2022. All work must be original, unsold, with the artist owning sole copyright. 2D artwork must be ready to hang with professional-quality frames, mats, and wiring.
