About This Call

ART IN THE TIME OF CORONA™ is a comprehensive pandemic art project launched by Dab Art Co. in April 2020. The project selects 30-40 new artists each month for exhibition. The second year (Vol. 2) features an ongoing online exhibition updated monthly, a full color publication of all selected works, international and multi-city gallery exhibitions, and a documentary film short featuring selected artists. Over 400 artists were exhibited in Vol. 1 (Year 1).

The project runs from 2020-2023 and includes three phases: Phase 1 is an online exhibition running through March 2023, with artists and artworks reviewed and added monthly. Selected works will be featured on Dab Art Co.'s website and the international sales platform ARTSY, which receives 2.2 million+ unique visitors monthly. Phase 2 is a full color 8.5x11 inch art book titled ART IN THE TIME OF CORONA™ | Vol. 2, to be released in February 2022 and added to the permanent catalog in the LACMA Balch Art Research Library. Ten artists from the online show will receive additional features in the publication and a hardback copy. Phase 3 consists of multi-gallery 8-week exhibitions scheduled for spring/summer 2022 in Los Angeles (CA), Ventura (CA), Austin (TX), and Mexico City (MX). A documentary film short will be produced and screened in Los Angeles in Summer 2022.

Accepted artwork includes painting, printmaking, sculpture, glass, fiber, functional, digital, photography, installation, mixed media, and new genres. Entry fee is $35 for 3 images; additional images cost $5 each (maximum 20 images). An optional video consultation with the gallery director is available for $100. All selected work must remain available for sale for the duration of the project. Gallery exhibition work must be original, unsold, professionally framed (2D work must be ready to hang), and the artist must own sole copyright. Notifications are sent via email within 2 weeks after the close of each calendar month. Gallery exhibition notifications will be sent by January 31, 2022.
