About This Call
The City of Coral Springs is requesting artist concept proposals for a commissioned interactive public artwork at Pride Promoters Park, located at 4391 Riverside Drive and NW 44th Court. Proposals from single artists and artist teams are accepted. The total budget for this project is $150,000, with the selected artist's budget not to exceed $120,000, including all permitting, art pad construction, lighting, site work, fees, labor, transportation, and installation costs.
The artwork should be a significant-scale interactive sculpture that encourages spectators to walk through, on, or around it and become part of the artwork itself. The piece must have interactive aspects that promote accessibility, engage multiple individuals simultaneously, and encourage connectedness and community healing. Acceptable formats include sculptures, installations, art walls, and other permanent artworks suitable for outdoor installation. The artwork must be self-supporting, durable, and require minimal ongoing maintenance. Given South Florida's subtropical climate with intense sun, humidity, heavy rains, and high-speed winds, materials must resist rust, fading, and weather damage while meeting Florida Building Code and Hurricane Resistant Requirements.
The application deadline is January 31, 2025. Proposals must include a letter of intent (one page maximum), professional resume for each artist, concept sketches (scaled plan, dimensioned elevations, and perspectives, no larger than 11" x 17"), itemized project budget, up to ten digital color images of representative work, annotated image list, and a detailed maintenance plan. The selected artist will be announced March 14, 2025, with City Commission approval in April 2025 and installation completed no later than September 30, 2025. Selected artists must handle transportation and installation, participate in a dedication/unveiling ceremony, and present one public lecture at the Coral Springs Museum of Art. Contact Jessica Kennedy at [email protected] or (954) 344-1162 for questions.
