About This Call
Art in the Heart of Main South is a public art exhibition seeking medium to large-scale sculptures for installation on Clark University's campus and in University Park in Worcester, Massachusetts. Seven sculptures will be selected by a panel of artists, art professionals, community members, and Clark University's office of Community Affairs. Selected artists will receive a $1,500 stipend from Clark University.
Eligible artists are practicing US sculptors who may submit up to three existing and/or proposed site-specific sculptures. Submissions should include a drawing with key and scale information, description of the proposed work and materials, and 1-3 digital images in JPEG format (1200 pixels on longest side, less than 5 MB). One optional video per piece is permitted. Work produced within the past five years is preferred. All submitted work must be the property of the artist. The entry fee is $25, and artists may submit up to three applications.
Sculptures must be suitable for outdoor installation and able to be well anchored to a base platform, into the earth, or securely suspended from trees. Sharp, pointed pieces below 4 feet should be avoided for public safety. Artists are responsible for transporting, installing, and removing their work, though lifting equipment will be available at scheduled times. Sculptures will be installed September 24 & 26, 2024, with the exhibition running October 1, 2024 - May 31, 2025, and removal scheduled for June 10 & 12, 2025. Artists are encouraged to visit the location prior to submission and may request specific installation sites, though placement cannot be guaranteed. It is recommended that artists obtain their own property and liability insurance.
