About This Call
Art in the Heart of Main South is a public art exhibition featuring medium to large-scale sculptures installed on Clark University's campus and in University Park in Worcester, Massachusetts. A panel of artists, art professionals, and community members will select seven sculptures for the exhibition. The exhibition period runs from October 11, 2025 through May 31, 2026, with installation scheduled for October 7 & 9, 2025 and removal on June 2 & 4, 2026.
Eligible artists are practicing US sculptors. The entry fee is $25.00, and artists may submit up to three existing and/or proposed site-specific sculptures. Selected artists will receive a $1,500.00 stipend from Clark University. Work samples should include 1-3 JPEG images (1200 pixels on longest side, less than 5 MB) and optionally one video per piece. Submissions must include a drawing with key and scale information, description of the proposed work, and materials. Preference is given to work produced within the past five years. Artists are responsible for transporting, installing, and removing their work, though lifting equipment will be available at scheduled times. Sculptures must be suitable for outdoor installation, safely anchored to a base platform, into the earth, or suspended from trees. Sharp, pointed pieces below 4 feet should be avoided to prevent injury to viewers. All media must be suitable for extended outdoor exhibition and weather exposure. Artists are encouraged to visit the location prior to submitting and may specify potential installation locations, though organizers cannot guarantee placement. Accepted sculptures cannot be substituted without contacting the call administrator. Artists should hold the University, Parks Department, selection panelists, and call administrator harmless from claims arising from damage or loss, and property and liability insurance is recommended.
