About This Call
The Art Selection Committee of the Loveland Public Library seeks art by Colorado artists or artist teams for 2024 exhibits in the Galleria vitrines. The Galleria display cases provide artists with valuable public exposure and sales opportunities. The Library features five display cases within pillars along the Galleria, with inside dimensions of 69" H x 21" W x 19" D. Artwork must fit within these display case limits, and hanging systems allow a maximum weight of 16 pounds. Selected artwork will be on display for one of four three-month periods in 2024: January 1 through March 31, April 1 through June 30, July 1 through September 30, or October 1 through December 31.
Applicants must reside in Colorado and may apply as individuals or as part of a team. A single $10.00 application fee is required regardless of the number of pieces submitted (minimum one, maximum six). Submissions must include a concept statement and brief outline of artist experience, detailed information on each piece (title, dimensions, weight if suspended, medium, date produced, price/value, sale status, and other pertinent information), and images of up to six distinct artworks. Sculptural pieces may include up to three images per work to show different views, for a total of 18 images maximum.
An art selection jury will review all applications and select artists for temporary exhibit. The jury considers success of materials and design, compatibility with the display case environment, appropriateness to the Library's function, representation of community tastes, and variety of style and media. All applicants will be notified of jury selections in mid-late November or early December. Selected artists are responsible for transportation of their work to and from the gallery. The Art Selection Committee handles exhibit design, installation, lighting, and press releases. A $100 Best of Show prize will be awarded at the end of 2024. The Friends of the Loveland Public Library retains a 20% commission on all sales of work during the display period. For questions, contact ShawnaLee Washam at [email protected] or 970-593-2247.
