About This Call
The Art Selection Committee of the Loveland Public Library seeks art by Colorado artists or artist teams for 2023 exhibits in the Galleria vitrines. The Galleria display cases provide artists with valuable public exposure and sales opportunities. Loveland is home to many outstanding artists, host to the largest outdoor sculpture exhibition in North America, and was the first Colorado city to pass an Art in Public Places Ordinance.
The Library features five display cases within pillars along the Galleria, with inside dimensions of 69" H x 21" W x 19" D. Artwork must fit within these display case limits, and hanging systems allow a maximum weight of 16 pounds. Selected artwork will be on display for one of four three-month periods in 2023: January 1 through March 31, April 1 through June 30, July 1 through September 30, or October 1 through December 31.
Eligibility: Applicants must reside in Colorado. Artists may apply as individuals or as teams. Each application requires a $10.00 fee and may include up to six distinct artworks (up to 18 images total, with sculptural pieces allowed three images each for different views). Submissions must include a concept statement, artist resume/experience outline, and detailed information on each piece (title, dimensions, weight if suspended, medium, date produced, price/value, sale status, and reproduction details). The Friends of the Loveland Public Library retains a 20% commission on all sales during the display period. An art selection jury will review applications and select artists for temporary exhibit. A $100 Best of Show prize will be awarded at the end of 2023. Selected artists are responsible for transportation of their work to and from the gallery. For questions, contact ShawnaLee Washam at [email protected] or 970-593-2247.
