Art in the Beartooths 50 Years

The Carbon County Arts Guild & Depot Gallery invites participation in the 50th Art in the Beartooths fundraiser, an invitational silent auction designed to raise money for the Arts Guild's programs, scholarships, and operations. Selected work will be on view at the Depot Gallery in Red Lodge, Montana from June 10-July 10, 2023. Online bidding through Handbid will run from June 9-July 10, 2023 and be open to all via mobile phone app, tablet, or computer. A member preview and online bidding opening will occur on June 9, with artists invited to attend. The grand finale is a quick finish and live auction on July 8, 2023, for which twenty artists will be invited to participate in this ticketed event.

Artists may submit up to 3 entries for jury review. Work must be original, made by the artist, and executed within the last five years. Acceptable mediums include paintings, mixed media, pastels, drawings, ceramics, fine woodwork, textiles, photographs, jewelry, and sculpture. Computer-generated artwork, prints (including giclees), crafts, and work previously submitted to past auctions are not permitted. Two-dimensional pieces exceeding 48" on any one side including the frame and three-dimensional works exceeding 2' by 2' by 3' or weighing over 50 pounds are considered oversized and will not be accepted. Image submissions must be JPEG or JREG format, 1,200 pixels or greater on the longest side, under 5 MB, and in sRGB color profile.

Accepted artists are responsible for all delivery, return packing, insurance, and shipping costs. All 2D art must have a secure wire in the back and be ready to hang; all 3D art must have proper supports and hanging devices. Artists may choose to contribute either 50% or 100% of the auction sale price to the Arts Guild. Retail value is the amount the artist would like their piece to sell for; reserve price cannot exceed 60% of retail and is where bidding will start. Unsold art is ready for pickup July 11-31. Submission deadline is May 7, 2023. Artists will be notified of acceptance by May 12, and all accepted art must be received at the gallery by May 31.
