Art in the Barn 2025

The 50th annual Art in the Barn juried fine art festival will be held the weekend of September 27th and 28th on the sprawling grounds of Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington, IL, located 35 miles northwest of Chicago. This open-air event is held in a collection of rustic barns and farm buildings as well as artist-provided tents. What began in 1974 as a modest art show has grown to be one of the most unique, high quality, and well-attended art festivals in the Chicago area with over 175 juried artists exhibiting their work. Art in the Barn has a rich history of drawing people and families together to enjoy the exhibition and sale of fine art as well as live music and entertainment, food from a variety of vendors, and children's art, all in a picturesque country setting.

Participation is open to artists designing and creating original art in the following categories: Acrylic, Ceramics, Fiber, Glass, Jewelry, Mixed Media, Oil, Photography, Sculpture, Watercolor, Wood and the combined category of Drawing, Pastels and Printmaking. Applications are due April 1, 2025 with a non-refundable $30 jury fee. Artists must submit 5 images including a booth shot, and all artwork exhibited must be consistent with the style and quality submitted to the jury. Artists will be notified of their status by June 1, 2025, with acceptance deadline of July 20, 2025.

This will be the 25th year for Best of Show and Best of Medium ribbon awards. Artistic Excellence awards of $150 each will be given in each category, and the Best of Show award of $500 will be presented. Award winners receive automatic invitations to the following year's event with waived jury fees. Art in the Barn is a major fund-raising event of Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital, with proceeds supporting healthcare scholarships and hospital programs.
