About This Call
The City of Frisco seeks original, 2-dimensional artworks for Art in the Atrium 20 – A Moment in Time, scheduled for June 21, 2021 through November 2, 2021. Artists from Frisco and the surrounding area are encouraged to submit art that depicts "A Moment in Time." From photographs to abstract mixed media, artworks can express feelings, document specific events of the past and present, or imagine something entirely new. All interpretations of the theme and media that fit the submission guidelines will be considered.
Artists may submit up to three images of original artwork. All artworks must be original, created within the past 2 years, and not infringe on copyrighted content. Artworks must be framed and suitable for hanging with wire securely attached. Unframed canvases with wire securely attached are acceptable but must have finished edges. No 3-dimensional artworks will be considered. Photographs must be printed on quality paper at a resolution of at least 300 dpi. Maximum artwork size is 60 inches (vertical) x 60 inches (horizontal). Submissions must include current contact information, an artist statement, and digital images in .jpg format with a minimum of 1200 pixels on the shortest side. Each image must include the artist's name, title, date of completion, medium, size in inches, a description of motivation and process, and price if for sale.
Exhibited works will be selected by the Frisco Public Art Board based on compliance with requirements, appropriateness of content, uniqueness and originality, visual impact, and demonstrated excellence of technique. Selected artists will be required to sign a loan agreement and deliver artwork on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 (10 am to 2 pm, and 4 to 8 pm) at the George A. Purefoy Municipal Center. Artwork may be for sale by the artist, with the City receiving no commission. The City may also consider artwork for purchase into its permanent collection. An artist reception is scheduled for July 12, 2021. Artwork pickup is Wednesday, November 3, 2021 (10 am to 2 pm, and 4 to 8 pm). Questions should be directed to [email protected] by April 30, 2021.
