About This Call

The City of Frisco seeks original, 2-dimensional artworks by artists from Frisco and the surrounding area for the 19th installment of Art in the Atrium. The exhibition will showcase artistic excellence in the region, encourage public dialogue and understanding of visual art, and promote the City's cultural initiatives. Art in the Atrium 19 is scheduled for Monday, September 30, 2019 through Friday, March 20, 2020, at the George A. Purefoy Municipal Center.

Artists may submit up to three images of original artwork. All artworks must be original, created within the past 2 years, and not infringe on copyrighted content. Artworks must be framed and suitable for hanging with wire securely attached. Unframed canvases with wire securely attached are acceptable if they have finished edges. No 3-dimensional artworks will be considered. The maximum artwork size is 60 inches (vertical) x 60 inches (horizontal). Photographs must be printed on quality paper at a resolution of at least 300 dpi. Submissions must include current contact information, an artist statement, and digital images in .jpg format with a minimum of 1200 pixels on the shortest side. Each image must include the artist's name, artwork title, date of completion, medium, size in inches, a description of motivation and process, and price if for sale.

Selected artworks will be reviewed by the Frisco Public Art Board based on compliance with requirements, appropriateness of content, uniqueness and originality, visual impact, and demonstrated excellence of technique. All artists will receive written notice of acceptance or rejection. Selected artists must sign a loan agreement and deliver artwork on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 between 10 am-2 pm or 4-8 pm at the George A. Purefoy Municipal Center. Artwork may be for sale during the exhibition, with the artist responsible for all aspects of the sale. The City of Frisco does not receive commission on sales. Artwork may be considered for purchase into the City's permanent collection, with contracts negotiated between the artist and City. An artist reception is scheduled for Monday, October 7, 2019 from 6:30-8 pm. Artwork pickup is Monday, March 23, 2020 between 10 am-2 pm or 4-8 pm.
