About This Call
The City of Frisco Public Art Program seeks original, 2-dimensional artworks by artists from Frisco and the surrounding area for the 17th installment of Art in the Atrium. The exhibition will be held at the George A. Purefoy Municipal Center from Monday, September 24, 2018 through Friday, March 8, 2019. Art in the Atrium 17 will showcase artistic excellence in the region, encourage public dialogue and understanding of visual art, and promote the City's cultural initiatives.
Artists may submit up to three images of original artwork. All artworks must have been created within the past two years, be framed and suitable for hanging with wire securely attached, and not exceed 60 inches (vertical) x 60 inches (horizontal). No 3-dimensional artworks will be considered. Photographs must be printed on quality paper at a resolution of at least 300 dpi. Submissions must be made through www.callforentry.org by Monday, August 20, 2018 at 4:00pm CST and must include current contact information, an artist statement, and digital images in .jpg format with a minimum of 1200 pixels on the shortest side. Each image must include the artist's name, artwork title, date of completion, medium, size in inches, a description of motivation and process, and price if for sale.
Selection criteria includes compliance with eligibility and submission requirements, appropriateness of content, uniqueness and originality, visual impact, and demonstrated excellence of technique. Selected artists will be required to sign a loan agreement and deliver framed artwork on Monday, September 17, 2018 between 10am-2pm and 4pm-8pm at the George A. Purefoy Municipal Center. Artwork may be considered for purchase into the City of Frisco's permanent collection. Artwork on display may be sold by the artist, provided it remains on display until the conclusion of the exhibition. The City does not receive commission on sales. An artist reception is scheduled for Friday, October 2, 2018 from 6:30pm to 8pm. Artwork pickup is Monday, March 11, 2019 between 10am-2pm and 4pm-8pm.
